Tour Guide ( P/T or F/T)
Tour guides provide exceptional 50-60 minute tours of historic downtown Charleston, following the city of Charleston’s tour regulations. All guides must pass a rigorous test administered by the city covering more than three hundred years of Charleston’s history, including architecture and plant life. Tour guides will make the safety of our guests and horses a priority. Licensed guides are preferred, but Old South Carriage Co. will train promising candidates who display exceptional customer service skills, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude. Uniform provided, except for black lace-up shoes and hat. Candidate must have a valid diver’s license and be available to work days, weekends, holidays, and evenings.
Starting wage: $18.25 per hour while on tour; $7.25 between tours
Team Leader ( P/T or F/T)
The Team Leader upholds our company standards and oversees the activities of our evening tour business, such as sales, customer service, and safety procedures. The team leader also will be responsible for responding to guest and team member concerns, as well as closing the barn and ensuring all Old South property and personnel are secure. This person will manage a team of 5-7 Old South Carriage employees. Weekend and weekday shifts available.
Minimum Requirements: 1+ year supervisor level experience and the ability to continuously move around all areas of business concern - from the barn to Market Street. This position requires heavy lifting up to 50lbs. Candidate must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive a Kubota to move carriages.
Starting wage: $13.00 per hour
Customer Service Specialist (P/T or F/T)
The Customer Service Specialist must be highly organized and enjoy in a fast-paced environment, as well as exhibit excellent customer service, multitasking, and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities include meeting and greeting customers, ringing in ticket sales, checking in guests, and efficiently loading carriages. This position requires attention to detail, poise, and positive attitude in the workplace. Minimum requirements: associates degree or 2 years experience in customer service or sales. Uniform provided, except for black lace-up shoes and hat. Candidate must be available to work days, weekends, and holidays. Candidate must also pass a Pre-employment drug test.
Starting wage: $11.00 per hour
Customer Service Representative (P/T or F/T)
The Customer Service Representative must exhibit excellent customer service skills. Initial responsibilities include greeting and directing guests in front of our barn as well as opening the gate for departing carriages. This position requires a positive attitude and the ability to create an amazing first impression for our customers. This position provides the opportunity for advancement within Old South Carriage Company. Typically this candidate grows into a Customer Service Specialist.
Starting wage: $10.00 per hour
Sales Associate From Horse Drawn Carriage (P/T or F/T)
Sales associates are often the first point of contact with our guests and therefore must exhibit excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Duties include selling tickets from horse-drawn carriage or other kiosks in downtown Charleston and assisting with care of horse (taking temperature, emptying diaper, ensuring water breaks, tacking and untacking as needed). Uniform provided, except for black lace-up shoes and hat. Candidate must have a valid driver’s license. Weekday, evening, and weekend shifts available. Training provided.
Base pay + commission
Sales Associate From Kiosk (P/T or F/T)
Sales associates are often the first point of contact with our guests and therefore must exhibit excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Duties include selling tickets from kiosks in downtown Charleston. Uniform provided, except for black lace-up shoes and hat. Day, evening, and weekend shifts available. Training provided.
Base pay + commission
Sales Associate In Training
The Sales Associate in Training must be energetic, exhibit excellent customer service skills, and be quick on their feet. This position provides the opportunity for advancement within Old South Carriage Company. Typically this candidate grows into a Customer Service Representative or Sales Associate position. Immediate responsibilities include returning our zone tags to the City Gate at the end of each tour. Uniform is khaki shorts, sneakers, and company-issued T-shirt.
Starting wage: $10 an hour
Equine Farm Hand
The Equine Farm Hand works from our farm on John's Island and coordinates with our in-town Barn Manager to support the activities for our horse-drawn carriage operation. This person should appreciate the unique abilities of a working draft horse and become comfortable with managing them. This position requires some equine knowledge, sound judgment, adaptability, and a positive attitude in the workplace.
Minimum Requirements: 1+ year equine or stable experience or associates degree in an equine-related field of study. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive a truck with large trailer. Candidate must be available to work days, weekends, and holidays as well as some evenings on a seasonal basis. Candidate must also pass a pre-employment drug test.
Starting Wage: Negotiable based on experience
Barn Worker ( P/T or F/T)
Barn hands ensure the health of Old South Carriage Co. draft horses by providing outstanding care. Responsibilities include feeding, bathing, harnessing, and transporting horses. Barn hands clean stalls and complete other barn-related tasks with enthusiasm. Candidate must be at least 21 years old and have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Barn hands should be able to drive a truck and trailer and must be available to work days, weekends, holidays, and evenings.
Starting wage: $11.00 per hour
